At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Hillcrest Elementary hosted a Veterans Day assembly. Red Raider Jazz (the top jazz ensemble at Pulaski High School) came out to play for the assembly, led by PHS assistant band director and jazz studies director Ms. Kayla Koch. Multiple veterans spoke at the assembly, students asked questions, and the 3rd graders got to hear some of the patriotic tunes they learned in music class played by RR Jazz! Some students chose to fill out a reflection after the event and shared that they valued being able to hear about veterans' experiences, focus their thoughts in thankfulness during the moment of silence, and see/hear the top jazz band in the district live.
